Thinking Out Loud

Christmas Cheer or Festive Fear? Sprinkle A Little Kindness…

Which category do you fall into? Whether we like it or loathe it, the festive build up has begun! It’s a busy time of year for everyone and for many reasons a time filled with mixed emotions. Depending on which category you fall into will determine how you feel about taking up this wonderful festive challenge I am about to share with you…If you fall into the latter then I highly encourage you even more so to do it…you just might be pleasantly surprised how much more positive you are feeling by the end!

So, lets start here with this fantastic project brought to you by the beautiful heart that is Helen… her Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar! As part of Helens soul filled blog, make today happy, she is on a magical mission to spread kindness so I am delighted to help it ripple even further for her, for us.

It is no surprise Helens project was picked up by the press & ultimately by the BBC (there is more great news about it but I will let her tell you herself as she has so kindly agreed to write a piece for us here in the New Year!) and just reaffirms for me how good will always find a way to triumph over bad. I connected with Helen earlier this year and even though our regular communication includes all these wonderfully positive things I think now, more than ever before is the perfect timing for her kindness campaign to be picked up and catapulted out into the world. Especially given some of the recent sad events happening around the world of late, makes the timing even more perfect. The universal clock is always spot on and knows exactly what it is doing even if we don’t.

In a world that has endured a lot of sadness lately it makes my heart sing to read this comment left on Helen’s blog –  “My partner and I met you today whilst you were with BBC radio nottingham at the retail park. We love what you’re doing and think you’re a fantastic lady!!! We bought you a little gift as a thank you for making us smile, when we came out of the shop you were gone! Is there any way we can get it to you? Xxx” How amazing is that? Not only did Helen’s project have a powerfully positive effect on that couple but it will inspire them to do the same and so on and so forth, the ripples will be forever felt!

What’s even more incredible is the smallest of gestures can come from any of us at any time, we all have the ability to help change the world around us for the better as well as helping ourselves. There are so many ways we can do it, for free even and with minimal effort; kindness doesn’t recognise the size, it merely recognises the act. Don’t rely on others to do these things, if we all thought that way then nothing would be accomplished. Make a start now, it doesn’t matter what you do once you do it!

You can find out more about Helen, her blog and download your own copy of the aforementioned Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar by following this link! You can also share your experiences on Helen’s blog too and help inspire others.

I’m going to sign off for now on this but look forward to kick starting the New Year with more from Helen. Have fun with your advent calendar, hopefully by the end of it you will be in a more positive mind set and ready for 2016!

Wishing you all a heartfelt festive season and an abundance of happiness for the New Year,
