Thinking Out Loud

Love Hanging Out With Yourself…

Love Hanging Out With Yourself…

One of the first things people associate February with is Valentine's Day. No surprise really considering we are bombarded from a commercial angle with all things love before Santa has time to wash and dry his suit for next year! I'm all for celebrating love but my problem with the commercial aspect of Valentines is it can leave some people feeling like there is something wrong with them if there isn’t another half waiting to shower them with the marketers dream that is Valentine’s Day. I love love but in all its wonderful forms, not just the romantic kind. One form in particular is more important...

Pressing The Pause Button…

Pressing The Pause Button…

It was a busy and exciting run up to the holidays with some unexpected good news and celebrations so after celebrating the fun filled festivities too I am now allowing myself to just be still. I'm hitting the pause button this month, to just be, to reconnect with myself and allow some creative ideas to flow. It's incredible how allowing yourself to step back can help you to move forward.  I know by the time February comes around I'll be looking forward to jumping back into action, hopefully with plenty of new plans and projects for the future! How will you be using your January? I know many...

Embracing NOvember…

Embracing NOvember…

It’s NOvember…yes, I said no! Before I confuse us all too much, myself included, let me explain what I am leading into; Over the last few weeks I have noticed a reoccurring theme in conversations with clients - how difficult they find it to say 'no' to others. Many expressed feelings of guilt when they used it, some didn't kNOw how not to say it and others simply didn't kNOw it's perfectly ok to say it. Talking through this once familiar territory with them reminded me of how I use to do it too. By saying yes to others simply to please them only served at making me feel frustrated and angry...

The Sound of Silence…

The Sound of Silence…

The Sound of Silence... Many of you will remember a few months ago I introduced this rather amazing, beautiful & talented young lady, Tracey McCann. I know Tracey made an impact on you as much as she did me because I received some truly heartwarming feedback after I shared her story. Tracey is passionate about helping others to see that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. She is living proof that no matter what our story is we can do anything if we believe in ourselves and adopt a positive mental attitude. During some recent meditation I felt compelled to switch of all sounds...

We Are Family (sing it!)…

We Are Family (sing it!)…

Family - one word, multiple meanings… Most of my summer was filled with family and friends returning from all corners of the globe (I never quite understood how something round can have corners!). These said corners included New Zealand, Australia and America, and all had the same mission as they crossed oceans and navigated their way through airports…spending time with those they love. I have just waved off my big hearted brother and the beautiful Orla as they begin their journey back to Australia. Yes, my heart may be heavy but there was no denying the overwhelming feeling of love and sheer...

Going Back To Go Forward…

Going Back To Go Forward…

Thankfully, I am a happy person. This is not because it just landed on my lap, it is not because I’m living some idea of distorted reality and it is certainly not because of the absence of any worries in my life. It is simply because I choose to be. So many of us fall into that dreaded cycle of chasing the elusive happy; I’ll be happy when I get my promotion, I’ll be happy when I buy a bigger house, I’ll be happier when I’m two stone lighter, I’ll be happier when blah blah blah…..always in the future but never content with being happy in the now. Sound familiar? I am guilty of this...

Dance The Funky Chicken, Don’t Worry And Always Wear Sunscreen…

Dance The Funky Chicken, Don't Worry & Always Wear Sunscreen... Usually I fill this space each month with something written by either myself or a guest writer in the hope that by sharing invaluable life experience, stories, passions, fears and dreams that something will resonate enough with readers to inspire them, comfort them or perhaps give them whatever they need at that moment in time. This month I am going to cheat, just a little, by sharing with you a song from 17 years ago... If you do one thing today, let it be that you sit down, turn this up loud and LISTEN, really listen to the words....

My 40 Year Old Gift…

My 40 Year Old Gift…

Obviously I knew it was coming, I have after all had 40 years to prepare for it! So it was no surprise that in recent months I found myself thinking about what this strong age meant to me (strong seems to accompany this number for me so I’ll gladly take it) but what was a surprise was my realisation of how I felt about turning 40….. very happy and very excited! Usually I shy away from fuss or anything that makes me the centre of attention, I don’t even let Facebook notify the world it’s my birthday! I’m more a low key kind of gal, quality over quantity, less is more kind of person...

Hope, Faith and Courage…

Hope, Faith and Courage…

Most of us at some stage in our lives will experience the loss of a loved one. Sometimes we are prepared for it, sometimes we are not, either way it is a difficult  time. How we choose to deal with it though quite often reflects our beliefs and where we draw our comfort from. This months piece needs no further introduction as Emily so beautifully shares her heartfelt story with us... "There is something divine that comes from tragedy. A burning inside that can either ignite your sorrow or turn it into something beautiful. We always have a choice. To keep falling or to rise again. That was my choice...

Mums The Word…

Mums The Word…

This year I am turning 40. Allow me to repeat that – this year I am turning 40 – nope, still no panic setting in! It seems a day doesn’t pass without some friend or another asking me what I’m doing for it. Then comes the ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe you are 40’ part quickly followed by the ‘how do you feel about it’ question from them. In all honesty…I feel great about it! I feel so proud of everything I have accomplished and so happy to have made it to 40. I’m definitely on the fabulous forty side of the fence, what’s not to like, I’m alive and I can smile! But this...
