Obviously I knew it was coming, I have after all had 40 years to prepare for it! So it was no surprise that in recent months I found myself thinking about what this strong age meant to me (strong seems to accompany this number for me so I’ll gladly take it) but what was a surprise was my realisation of how I felt about turning 40….. very happy and very excited! Usually I shy away from fuss or anything that makes me the centre of attention, I don’t even let Facebook notify the world it’s my birthday! I’m more a low key kind of gal, quality over quantity, less is more kind of person...

Most of us at some stage in our lives will experience the loss of a loved one. Sometimes we are prepared for it, sometimes we are not, either way it is a difficult  time. How we choose to deal with it though quite often reflects our beliefs and where we draw our comfort from. This year I am turning 40. Allow me to repeat that – this year I am turning 40 – nope, still no panic setting in! It seems a day doesn’t pass without some friend or another asking me what I’m doing for it. Today my attention was grabbed by our dear old friend, the Rubik's Cube...its a long time since I actually had a go of this little genius so I picked him up and smiled as if I was greeting an old friend. As I got comfy (domestic duties suddenly pushed to the bottom of today's to do list!) I pondered if I'd be any better at it now compared to way back when. It was only a few short twists and turns later that I began seeing the cube in a whole different way, it was now my life in my hands. There is Cystic Fibrosis and then there is Clare, two very powerful forces both in their own right. Let me be perfectly clear, I am no expert on CF nor do I even begin to comprehend what it must be truly like living with it. What I do know however, is the power of Clare, living proof that small things come in great packages! Anything I do know about CF I have learnt through this feisty little spirit and her never ending quest to raise its awareness. Every now and again something happens that reminds me to stop and acknowledge the many great people I have connected with on my life's path. The importance of how we are all here to help each other and how soul connections can be felt regardless of time, place, situation or distance are there in abundance if we could all only just realise this.
